Barbara is on hiatus wayfinding her way to Florida where she will has moved her coaching business. She will be up and running again by July 1, 2014, after she returns from China for a visit. So if you are planning to get some coaching or partnership packages, plan for July to get started. The new Wayfinding Farm will be offering coaching, pathways to partnerships and leadership building coaching. There will be a place to play directly with her horses or bring your own. She will have a small area for ground play with them and a covered area if it starts to shower. There is a wonderful coaching room, directly across from the pastures where dreamwork, mandalas and other workshops can be scheduled and a large outdoor covered area for gathering in the shade, as well as 100 year old oak trees, offering protective limbs to hold you and help you along your journey. Florida offers new opportunities and possibilities. She is waiting for her horses to be on the same property so we can be as one herd again, but there is a barn to fix up and fencing that must go in. They too have had many changes and are getting accustom to new a new climate, grass, bugs, snakes, birds and having other horses in other fields all around them. Their fields are flat and they enjoy running and playing in the mornings and late evenings, although they have quickly realized summer in Florida means siesta during the day. Watching them adjust to the change is very interesting. They at first stayed as a tight herd, moving together, eating at the same time and paying strict attention to the order of who goes first, who sees what and who hears what. Trace was and still is the most reactive. Funny too, she is the one who had gotten more bug bites and welts. Vianca and Vision have maintained and gone with the flow. Not too much energy spent on worrying about what is. Vianca seems to be able to quickly asses what works and what doesn’t, and Vision takes her cue. She adopted a routine very quickly and at first only grazed in one portion of her 10 acre field. Slowly checking out the other areas, where Trace ran around, got scared and frightened of the swaying moss and strange noises. Just like people, each one managed in their own way, some adapted very quickly and the the others took more time. The min’s did just what I expected. Put their heads down and ate, figured out where the water was and were happy to be just left alone while they figured things out. Now with the heat building up, Vianca is getting more uncomfortable and often asks me to support her bulging belly. She is due July 4, so we are looking forward to a celebration foal.
It is Tuesday morning; a woodpecker has taken up residence in the magnificent oak tree near the porch. He is determined to locate any and all tasty morsels through vibrations. Beautiful sounds, melodic, precise yet haunting.
This is the first morning I don’t need to be anywhere or meet anyone. I relish the moments, the first glimpse of sunrise, the mist hiding the length and breath of the pastures, the first sound of the morning dove, then blue jay, later the cardinal and now the woodpecker. He arrives only after the sun is high and the dew has evaporated into the lush thick air.
I wonder how I could have questioned returning home to Florida. She is vibrant, full of life and activity. Yes, like the mountain’s from which I came, with her beauty comes harshness. Not the harshness of winter cold but in the form of intense heat. I hear Florida question me, “Can you accept my contradictions; my beauty and hostility, my softness and roughness, my coolness and intense heat?” If the answer is yes, richness, abundance and surprise is yours to experience. If not, then my heat and fickleness may drive you out or into the confines of your air-conditioned self-imposed domicile.
